STARTRADER began offering two new US dollar denominated contracts on September 21, according to information published by the broker. The products, known as CXMTUSD and UNITREEUSD, track the price movements of ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, and Unitree Robotics respectively. The broker states that the instruments are available from Monday through Sunday, with trading scheduled around the clock according to its platform time, listed as GMT plus 3.
The companies behind the contracts are among the more closely watched names in China‘s technology sector. CXMT is a semiconductor manufacturer focused on DRAM memory chips used in products including smartphones, computers and servers. The company was established in 2016 and was listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange’s STAR Market in July 2026.
Unitree Robotics, meanwhile, develops humanoid and quadrupedal robots and joined the same Shanghai market in August 2026. The company has attracted attention as investment in artificial intelligence moves beyond software and data centres into physical machines capable of performing tasks in the real world. Unitree reportedly shipped more than 5,500 humanoid robots in 2025, underscoring the rapid commercialisation of the sector.
Yet the new products come with an important distinction that traders cannot afford to overlook. CXMTUSD and UNITREEUSD are CFDs rather than direct purchases of the underlying shares. Investors therefore do not acquire ownership of CXMT or Unitree Robotics when taking a position through the contracts. Instead, they gain exposure to movements in the referenced prices through a leveraged derivative.
STARTRADER states that the two contracts carry leverage of up to five times, with a minimum trading size of one lot and a maximum of 1,000 lots. The broker also makes clear that the advertised seven day schedule refers to trading on its own platform and does not mean that the Shanghai Stock Exchange itself operates continuously.
That distinction becomes particularly relevant during weekends and public holidays, when the underlying cash market is shut. Prices shown on a CFD platform outside conventional exchange hours can behave differently from prices seen during normal Shanghai trading sessions, while spreads, liquidity and trading costs can also become important considerations.
For Malaysian traders, the development is another reminder that access to global markets through CFDs does not necessarily mean the same regulatory protections apply across jurisdictions. Malaysias Securities Commission treats CFDs as derivatives and requires businesses offering them in Malaysia to hold the appropriate Capital Markets Services Licence. Its current framework also identifies CFDs as leveraged and complex products subject to specific investor requirements.
