For me, this is a critical factor in assessing a broker’s legitimacy, as SFC is a well-established regulatory body known for its stringent standards. ChaoShang holds a license for “Dealing in futures contracts” in Hong Kong, which I consider a positive indication of oversight in a region with robust financial rules. However, while SFC regulation adds a degree of credibility and investor protection, I remain cautious since the scope of their license centers primarily on futures contracts, not specifically forex or other instruments. There are also notes about a “suspicious scope of business” and “suspicious overrun,” suggesting that while ChaoShang is authorized by the SFC for certain activities, their operations might extend beyond the original licensing, which could raise some concerns about compliance. As an experienced trader, I always make regulatory status a top priority, but I also examine whether a broker’s actual services align closely with their regulatory permissions. In ChaoShang’s case, I would treat the SFC oversight as a reassuring baseline but would still scrutinize their specific offerings and disclosures before proceeding.
