From my experience and careful review of Shenwan Hongyuan’s available information, it is not possible to directly trade assets like Gold (XAU/USD) or Crude Oil through their platform. When I examined Shenwan Hongyuan’s product list, I found that they focus primarily on Hong Kong equities and futures. Notably, they do not offer forex, commodities, indices, or cryptocurrencies. This includes the absence of trading pairs such as XAU/USD for gold or contracts for crude oil—both of which are commonly sought by traders with commodity and currency interests. I noticed that Shenwan Hongyuan holds an SFC license for dealing in futures contracts, but there’s no indication that these contracts cover precious metals or energy products like gold or oil. In my view, the platform’s asset coverage is quite limited compared to global multi-asset brokers, especially for someone interested in international commodity markets. Furthermore, the absence of these instruments can affect how I build a balanced, diversified portfolio through this broker, and it’s a factor that makes me cautious if I were considering them as my main trading venue. In summary, if trading gold (XAU/USD) or crude oil is important for your strategy, Shenwan Hongyuan currently does not meet these requirements according to my understanding of their official offering. I would advise anyone to verify the most up-to-date asset lists before opening an account if these products are a priority.
