Speaking from my experience as a trader who prioritizes robust automation features, I found investigating MUFG (specifically, its au Kabucom Securities platform) both informative and somewhat limiting when it comes to automated trading. What stood out immediately was the absence of MetaTrader 4 or MT5 support, as MUFG relies on its own proprietary trading app, the au Kabucom FX app, for both desktop and mobile. This distinction matters because, in the forex industry, MT4 and MT5 are essentially the industry standard for deploying EAs (Expert Advisors) and scripts designed for automated trading. The reason I focus so strongly on platform compatibility is that custom automation—like EAs—generally requires either open APIs or integration with platforms that natively support third-party add-ons. Without MT4 or MT5, I couldn't find any indication that MUFG's platform natively allows users to install or run their own EAs. For me, this is a significant consideration, since I rely on EAs to manage trades, backtest strategies, and reduce emotional bias. The self-developed nature of MUFG’s software can provide certain stability and mature risk controls, but it also typically means more restrictions when it comes to flexibility for automated trading—unless the broker specifically advertises such capabilities. While MUFG is a well-regulated, reputable broker with a strong background (licensed in Japan and under the oversight of the FSA), I have to be cautious: as of my assessment, it does not appear to support the use of EAs or third-party automated strategies in the way some other platforms do. For traders like me who depend on automation, this could be a notable drawback. That said, anyone interested in automation should confirm with the broker directly for any recent updates, as platform offerings do evolve over time.
