In practice, I made a symbolic small deposit to make sure my account was activated and fully functional. However, although the monetary threshold is minimal, I urge new traders to look beyond just the deposit amount. DEGIRO does not currently have verified regulatory oversight according to the available information, which is a critical consideration for any trader prioritizing safety of funds. While opening and funding the account was straightforward in my case, I remain conservative in my approach: I would not place significant capital with any brokerage lacking clear, robust regulatory protection, regardless of how attractive the minimum deposit appears.
