eToro Opens Investor Portfolios to ChatGPT, Claude and Grok
Abstract:Online trading platform eToro has unveiled a new range of artificial intelligence connectors that allow investors to link their brokerage accounts directly to popular AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Grok Bot.

Artificial intelligence is moving beyond market commentary and gaining direct access to investors' financial accounts, raising fresh questions about data security, trading control, and the future of investment decisions.
Online trading platform eToro has unveiled a new range of artificial intelligence connectors that allow investors to link their brokerage accounts directly to popular AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, Grok, and Grok Bot. The development represents a significant shift in digital investing, potentially transforming how retail traders monitor portfolios, evaluate market exposure, and make financial decisions.
The integration uses Model Context Protocol (MCP), a technology framework that enables AI applications to communicate with external services. Investors can connect their eToro accounts without programming knowledge, API keys, or complicated technical configurations, removing barriers that previously limited access to sophisticated portfolio analysis.
Unlike conventional AI tools that generate investment insights using publicly available information or hypothetical scenarios, eToro's new connectors allow supported assistants to examine actual account information.
Investors can request detailed assessments of their holdings, open positions, account balances, and historical investment performance through conversational AI interfaces.
The implications could be substantial. Instead of manually reviewing multiple trading dashboards, investors may increasingly rely on AI assistants to identify portfolio weaknesses, assess concentration risks, and interpret their exposure to changing market conditions.
Despite these expanded capabilities, eToro maintains that investors will retain control over their accounts.
Users can select read-only access for research and portfolio monitoring. Where supported, additional permissions may allow AI assistants to propose trading actions, although investors must review and approve transactions before execution.
Deposits and withdrawals will continue to take place exclusively within eToro's trading platform rather than through AI conversations. Investors can also suspend or disconnect account access.
Nevertheless, the integration introduces important considerations surrounding financial data privacy, AI reliability, and the possibility of investors placing excessive confidence in automated recommendations.
