From my experience as a forex trader who often relies on automated trading strategies, Shikoku would not be my first choice if using Expert Advisors (EAs) is essential to my approach. Shikoku only provides a proprietary web-based trading platform and does not support MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5), or cTrader. These are the platforms most commonly associated with EAs and algorithmic trading capabilities. The absence of MT4 and MT5 means that, as of my latest research, it is not possible to run automated scripts or EAs directly through Shikoku’s trading environment. That limitation explains why I view Shikoku as better suited for clients who prefer manual trading or invest through more traditional financial products in Japan. I haven’t found any information indicating that their web platform offers API access or an in-house scripting environment for automation, which is a notable restriction compared to most international brokers. For me, the ability to backtest, customize, and automate strategies using EAs is a crucial part of risk management and consistency. Without this, I find it challenging to apply my preferred methodologies. Therefore, if EAs are important in your trading workflow, I would advise carefully considering Shikoku’s lack of compatibility before making a decision. My perspective is shaped by caution and a strong focus on trading efficiency and control, especially when dealing with regulated brokers.
