In my own experience navigating brokers, RHB stands out mainly for its diversified range of trading instruments, especially if you're interested in futures markets. The broker provides access to both domestic derivatives, like Bursa Malaysia's Crude Palm Oil and Gold Futures, as well as an array of foreign futures such as E-Mini S&P 500, FTSE China A-50 Index, and E-Mini Crude Oil Futures. This variety can be advantageous for traders like me who want to explore opportunities across both local and international markets within a single platform. When it comes to fees and financing, RHB adopts a fairly transparent approach. For example, their foreign shares financing starts at 0.50% of the facility limit (payable upfront), and their interest rates for such financing are pegged to SBR plus a relatively clear margin, with a clear minimum. Discretionary financing terms are customized, which allows for some flexibility based on individual strategies or portfolio sizes, though I’d always advocate for reading any such custom offerings thoroughly before committing. Despite these features, I personally remain cautious because their SFC license has been revoked, raising issues around oversight and compliance. While the broker’s broad product offering and fee structure could be appealing, for me, the lack of active regulation outweighs those advantages, especially in a market where fund safety and recourse are paramount.
