GMCU is primarily positioned as a traditional credit union, not a forex or multi-asset brokerage, so its fee framework is centered around retail banking and lending products rather than trading commissions or spreads. For someone considering GMCU for trading, it’s crucial to be aware that there are no references to commission-based trading or variable spreads as you’d see with dedicated forex brokers. Instead, GMCU’s fees are mainly described in terms of loan interest rates and a few account-related charges. The rates I observed are relatively on the higher side, especially for unsecured lending—personal loans are set at 14.95% per annum, and unsecured overdrafts jump to 17.69%. Business and farm loans are even higher if unsecured. While fee details on deposits and withdrawals aren’t clearly listed, GMCU doesn’t explicitly charge for these services except for certain dishonour fees if funds are insufficient. Since GMCU doesn’t offer trading services that use spreads or the commission model—nor does it provide demo accounts or traditional trading platforms—this isn’t an option I personally would consider for trading-related needs. For me, ensuring absolute clarity on costs is non-negotiable, and GMCU’s fee environment, while forthright for its actual service suite, simply doesn’t match what a trader needs in terms of cost transparency or competitiveness for active trading.
