In my experience researching and trading with large, established brokers like UBS, I found that specific leverage details on major forex pairs are not always openly disclosed, especially for retail accounts. In the case of UBS, despite its long history and global regulatory footprint—including licenses in Hong Kong and China—the documentation I’ve reviewed does not provide clear, up-to-date maximum leverage figures for major forex pairs or a direct comparison across other asset classes. From a risk management perspective, I consider this lack of transparency a crucial consideration. Typically, reputable banks and institutions offer quite conservative leverage compared to high-risk, unregulated brokers. This conservatism is primarily due to regulatory requirements in their operating regions and their focus on private wealth clients rather than aggressive margin trading. Given UBS’s emphasis on wealth management, investment banking, and asset management over pure speculative trading, I expect any available leverage to be much lower for major forex pairs compared to some retail-focused platforms. Additionally, leverage on other asset types—such as futures, equities, or structured products—may vary based on local regulations and product sophistication, with the lowest leverage often applied to higher-risk, more volatile instruments. Because I value cautious trading, I believe that anyone considering UBS should directly contact their support or advisor for specific leverage terms, as terms can change and may depend on client profile or account type. Ultimately, understanding leverage is critical for risk control, and in my view, the lack of public disclosure underlines the importance of individual due diligence before trading with any broker—especially one as complex as UBS.
