Based on my research and personal assessment of FFG Securities, I found that their focus is primarily on stocks, bonds, ETFs, and other traditional investment instruments, rather than forex trading. Critically, the available information does not mention fixed or variable spreads on forex products, and in fact, forex trading does not appear to be offered at all. Instead, FFG Securities charges commissions or fees based on the type and size of each transaction, especially for stocks—these are typically percentage-based and not spread-dependent, as one sees with most forex brokers. For those used to forex trading, where spreads are a central cost component, this structure feels quite different. In my experience, with brokers that do offer spreads, volatility—such as during economic news releases—often causes variable spreads to widen, sometimes dramatically, as liquidity providers adjust to increased risk and rapid price changes. Fixed spread brokers can also widen spreads or temporarily suspend pricing in extreme conditions, though this is usually disclosed in the terms. Since FFG Securities is strictly regulated by the FSA in Japan and clearly outlines its commission structure, I tend to trust there are no hidden spread manipulation risks. However, as someone who relies on understanding spread behavior during market swings, I personally would not use FFG Securities for traditional forex trading or for strategies that depend on spread predictability. Anyone interested in spread-specific dynamics during volatile markets should carefully investigate whether a broker actually offers those forex instruments before considering them for short-term trading needs.
